Ella Cochran Food Pantry

This project was completed in Fall 2025 as part of a Contextual Design course. I collaborated with a group of six others to develop a logo and supporting collateral for the Ella Cochran Food Pantry. I served as the production lead, with responsibilities that included keeping the team on track with deadlines, preparing final files, and contributing design work throughout the project. My logo design was selected by the pantry and is currently in use at their Erie, PA location and across their online platforms.

The pantry was founded in 1982 by Ella Cochran, whose nickname was “Peaches,” inspiring the use of peach imagery in the branding. I used the shape of a peach to create a double meaning by incorporating the pantry’s initials within the logo mark. (Beehive Client)

Process Work

Right off the bat, I noticed the circular shapes of the initials “E” and “C.” I immediately knew I wanted to explore that, especially when incorporating the peach shape. I also liked the idea of connection and interconnected shapes because that reflects what food pantries do. They connect people and create a sense of community.

Final Logo

We were able to create a logo mark that works as an acronym and as the peach shape. I was also able to keep the connecting/community idea that was stated above. The type is a soft, rounded serif typeface that gives the logo a friendly quality. We used warmer oranges to continue that friendly and approachable feeling. We also used a darker green shade to balance the oranges and give it a clean feeling.

Holiday Drive Flyers

I was tasked with creating flyers for the pantry’s Thanksgiving food drive and Christmas food drive. These are handed out in schools and various other locations. I wanted them to carry the same qualities as the logo. I did that by using soft and friendly shapes and well as colors.
